No one can be that selfless truly and that noble in real life as Edhi. Having access to million dollars he didn’t plan to live a luxurious life. He spent his whole life in just two changing clothes and living in a slum area of Karachi.

He just has one goal which was to serve the needy despite any religion. Edhi was a man who held socialist ideals and taught his son with his principles. He was the father , a brother and a son to all the people who were ignored, were not accepted and thrown out from their homes and society by their own family.

The ideology of this humanitarian was acknowledged globally, people generously supported the foundation and helped it grow into its biggest organization. Started with one ambulance, the foundation owns the world largest ambulance network and has become Pakistan recognized welfare organization. At the age of 88 in July 2016 he left all the eyes filled with tears and sobbing hearts and left behind his ideology and Edhi Foundation. Now, it is run by his son Faisal Edhi.

Faisal Edhi in his interview discussed that Edhi Foundation fears a drop in donation after the death of his father. We have come so far to support the foundation during Edhi Shab , we should continue to provide more support to the foundation in order to continue his ideology and legacy. I had an opportunity to perform my part of responsibility.

To create a big impact I decided and I offered my friends and my team to work together. We designed the poster and promoted the cause on our social media accounts like Whats app, Facebook and Instagram. In the first week we didn’t receive a single response. To provide convenience we mention not only our bank details but Jass cash and Easypaisa service as well. During the donation drive, Karachi experienced heavy rainfall which created many destruction.

I change the strategy of the drive. We redesign the poster and bring changes to our plan according to the current situation. Now we promote the idea to help Edhi Foundation to save the flood victims in Karachi. I connect the idea of fund collection with the current destruction faced by citizens of Karachi. Faisal Edhi along with his team immediately took action to help the victims whose homes were destroyed, they had no shelter , food and water.

The idea worked, we started receiving funds. We were so happy and motivated to see that our effort didn’t go in vain. There are people in the world who think not just about themselves but other people as well. The humanity still exists. In short period of time we manage to collect Rs 6000/-. Along with the funds we donated some things as well like a wheelchair, TV, Bed sheets. The experience was totally different. I enjoyed on the other hand I felt satisfied and more enthusiastic to help the needy through whatever available resources I have.

Being a part of the society, it’s our responsibility to help the people who are in need. We should not wait for the opportunity. You don’t need to have many resources to bring change. Your small step towards change is a great contribution.
